Why Use Roadmapping

What is Roadmapping?

Roadmapping is the starting point for every client we work with. It’s a strategy session designed to get a clear picture of where you are now and where you want to be in the next 12-18 months. From there, we collaboratively figure out the best, most efficient, and most economical route to get you from A to B.

Roadmapping cuts through the noise surrounding what everyone else is doing and focuses only on your goals and the exact steps you need to take to reach them.

How It Works

Our Roadmapping Process

Here’s an overview of how this project will run. We’ve honed our process over the years to provide maximum value without requiring a huge time investment on your part.

Book a no-obligation call with us to discuss how our Roadmapping Consultation can deliver value to your business.

Phase 1

Research and Discovery

We’re going to learn everything we can about your business and your customers. If you choose the Roadmapping + Research package, we will help you craft a survey that you can send to your audience to get a bird’s eye view of who your audience is made up of and, crucially, what’s important to them.

Phase 2

Roadmapping Strategy Session

Using the research from Phase 1, we will begin to piece together a marketing plan for the next 12-18 months for your business. We will then meet for a strategy session where we will work with you to fill in any gaps and make sure we are on the right track. These sessions usually last between 2-4 hours.

Phase 3

Full Report

After the roadmapping strategy session, we will put together a comprehensive report that will detail exactly what you should be working on to see the biggest ROI in the next 12-18 months of your business. This document will give you clear, actionable next steps for your business so you won’t need to guess which marketing channels to focus on.

Once you’ve had time to go through the strategy document, we will schedule another call so you can go through the recommendations with our team.

This will be your opportunity to ask any follow-up questions or clarify key points. From here, you can choose to undertake the implementation internally with your team or we can implement everything for you. We can typically get on with this and start getting results for you without requiring too much of your time.

Frequently asked questions about Roadmapping

Here are some of the questions our clients often ask, You may have business specific questions that may not be addressed here.

Book a no-obligation call with me to get your questions answered.

The main deliverable is an in-depth report which contains roughly 15-20+ pages of personalized, actionable advice on exactly what we would do to reach your business goals if we were in your shoes.

This report will identify:

  • Your current situation and the key opportunities for your business
  • A review of your website, pricing, branding, and copy – and the low-hanging fruit to increase your conversions immediately.
  • The 1 big project you should focus on to give you the biggest ROI.
  • A detailed map and checklist of how this project should be tackled to minimize expenses and maximize your return.

After you’ve had a chance to go through the report, we will schedule a follow-up call to discuss your key points or questions.

You can then take this report and run with the implementation yourself. Or, as is the preference with most clients, we can take on the implementation for you.

You will also receive:

  • A copy of your intake questionnaire. Many clients find they refer to this again and again. We’ll help you answer the questions, and you’ll learn a lot about how your business is performing from this document alone.
  • A recording of the Roadmapping session along with a full transcript.

If you choose the Roadmapping + Research package: A customer research survey along with the raw data, we collect from it. We will also normalize this data and provide insights into how you can better speak to your customers.

When you implement the recommendations from the report, most clients start seeing an ROI within a few months of working with us. The conversion-based improvements are designed to be things you tackle once and see ongoing effects from.

In terms of the larger scope of work, the ROI depends on the exact project. We identify what we believe is the most likely channel to give you the biggest results in the most economical way. This could be a launch campaign, an email marketing strategy, or a partnership program. The results can vary from a large burst of revenue to a longer burn depending on what your business needs.

We usually have a waiting list of anywhere from 2-6 months for Roadmapping so getting your booked in as early as possible is a good idea.

Once you’re booked in, the timeline looks like this:

  • T-1 week: Your intake questionnaire is due. We will then look it over, make sure we have everything we need, and ask any follow-up questions.
  • T-3 days: We will provide you with an agenda for our session based on your answers to the intake questions.
  • T-0: We spend 2-4 hours (with breaks!) in our Roadmapping session, going through every part of your business. Don’t worry, this is a really fun event and our clients love being able to dive deep into their business strategy for a few hours.
  • T+1 week: We will deliver the final report to you with 15-20+ pages of actionable advice tailored to you.
  • When you’re ready, you will then have the opportunity to book a follow-up call with us. We can go through your key points, questions, and any next steps.

If you book the Roadmapping + Research package, we will work with you beforehand to get the survey sent out and normalize the data before our Roadmapping session.
